Poppy B

I set out on a journey to find the perfect giant poppy flowers for my daughter's event in early 2025. I came across a variety of giant flower offerings in the internet, of species such as daisies, roses, carnations and a selection of wild flowers. They were made of paper, plastic or silk. I purchased some to test if they suffice. Some were small the size of a dinner plate to about 50 centimetres in diameter, while the oversized ones were slightly larger. Unable to find the perfect appearance for a poppy flower that is gigantic in proportions and a quality crafted structure, one that can sway gracefully with the breeze, I embarked on a project to create these poppies. I made them with thick paper, cut by me, and concealed with wiring for strength and form.  ​Unable to stop at one set as the beauty before me unfolded during the process, a whole garden of giant colourful poppies filled the outdoor venue.

With brilliant colours in pinks, orange and yellows, each cup-shaped poppy is unique and ambitious in its mimicry, featuring a range of centre colours to produce the element of natural phenomena and colour movement.

Poppy B (which stands for my two daughters Bianca and Bel) are paper poppy flowers, oversized in scale to approximately 90 centimetre flower heads standing from 1.7 metres to 3 metres in height. They come in a range of colours in whites, pinks, orange and yellows.
