EUPHONIOUS MOBIUS (Reciprocal Structure) | Campbell's Cove, The Rocks

As a spatial intervention for Vivid Sydney 2013 and developed for Destination NSW, Euphonious Mobius' interactivity and dynamic form create a multitude of interface experiences and facilitates dialogue in the form of contemporary media.

Computationally designed and digitally fabricated, the structure is composed of units (blocks in the shape and form of the Mobius geometry) formed using algorithms. Engineering analysis was also carried out using custom FEA to ensure this complex structure is free-standing. Material: 10mm acrylic; Weight: 2 tonnes+; Size: 7.5 x 2.4 x 2.2 meters.

The composition and articulation of this freeform using the Mobius pixels are synonymous with euphony of articulated words leading to the concept of Euphonious Mobius as an expressive piece of architecture.  With foundations in architecture, this piece representing a segment of the Mobius twist is a hybrid of architectural elements. The algorithm that defines its 'DNA' is generative and can be used to develop other architectural forms.
